CARMEL VALLEY VILLAGE - TREASURES & ADVENTURES
Are the two of you looking for a fun day off from "the usual" that's still close to home? Carmel Valley Village was discovered as a wine tasters Mecca from people all over the country, but there's more treasures and adventures to be had!
Start your day at the Sunny Bakery & Café w/your cup of morning Joe and wonderful homemade pastries (2 - $10 gift certificates)
Jump “on the wagon” with Cowboy Pete (driving his 1939 john Deere tractor and Border Collie sidekick, Lucy, who will show you around the Village and share its history.
Make your first stop at Quail & Olive to have something savory after your breakfast sweets. Do an olive oil and vinegar tasting and find your favorite flavors to take home ($50 gift certificate-they have gifts too).
Jump back on the wagon for a ride to the heart of the village on Center Street. Check out where your gift book and elderberry syrup came from at Olivia & Daisy Bookstore and Jerome's Market. Don't miss the glass artists’ studios and the Avant Garden home decorating treasures down the way.
When you get an appetite from your adventures, head to the The Wine House where you'll find some delicious food and drink ($75 gift certificate). Enjoy the fountains, bocce ball, corn hole, and relax.
Still have energy and want to add to your day? The local art association has an amazing collection by local artists of all genres, there's a motorcycle museum, take a walk around the beautiful Community Park and CV History Museum in the Park.
If you've read this far and still want more, we would be happy to give you an optional bonus offer - for the same bargain raffle ticket price: if you don't want to get up early, you can come the night before and stay at the Campbell's rustic but still functional 1927 redwood cabin on the Carmel River surrounded by towering redwood trees less than a mile away from the village. If you plan to do copious amounts of wine tasting, then Jim will give you a free ride in our 1941 Packard convertible with the top down just to get your blood flowing.
You can Uber home or call Jim to take you with the Packard back to lounges on the beach by the riverside to take an afternoon nap before you head back to reality.
