Our Sunday services are at 8 a.m., 9 a.m. and 10 a.m.
8 a.m. uses Rite II from the Book of Common Prayer. It is a slightly more informal service. We sing one hymn a cappella after Holy Communion – and we’re not all great singers – so you don’t have to be either!
9 a.m. is called “Young at Heart.” It is especially for 0 – 8 year olds and their families and those who love small children. Bev Carter is our music leader – she teaches education at California State Monterey Bay University, and raised four children. Michelle Zimmerman is our story teller – she is the chaplain for Good Shepherd Preschool, and is raising three girls. Pastor Linda presides for our all age friendly Communion and raised four children. The 30 minute service is very wiggle friendly!
10 a.m. uses Rite II from the Book of Common Prayer and features Holy Communion, music of a variety of genres, multi-graded Sunday School and Nursery Care for infants and toddlers. This is usually the largest service and lasts about an hour and fifteen minutes. A generous coffee hour follows.
You might have questions about coming to church – If you are wondering what to wear, all you really need are some clothes, we are a “come as you are congregation.” If you’re wondering about being imperfect or not having it together, church is where a lot of us have gotten it together – and we’re still all imperfect, it’s what makes us human. If you’re wondering about Episcopalian customs like kneeling and standing – we’ll help you out. Everyone is a bit different in their customs, and no one will be watching to see if you do it “right.” It’s true that it can be a bit overwhelming to step in the door for the first time or after a long absence – just know that God welcomes you with open arms, and so do we.
