Dear Fellow Good Shepherdites,

By now I hope you are aware of the task that our National Episcopal Church has taken on – to rebuild the Episcopal cathedral and attached school buildings in the capital of Haiti. The attached note (revised) from our diocesan coordinator for the project, George Lockwood, really spells out what it is all about.

In short, every Episcopal Church in the USA is being asked to donate a mere $10 per person to the project. It not only will rebuild the church, it will employ Haitians, give them the heart of their community back, and by so doing it will help rebuild their economy. If everyone participates it will raise the needed $20 million to make it happen.

There may be some who cannot or chose not to participate, so if you are inclined, you might give a little more. The fund raising project is scheduled to last for 12 weeks. Lets see if we can do it in 4 and be done.

Make your check out to “COGS” (or Church of the Good Shepherd if you prefer) and write “Haiti” in the bottom left corner. You can put it in the offering plate, leave it in the office, give it to a church staff or vestry member, to me or to our treasurer. We will know we have succeeded when we reach at least $1,500. We can do it now.

Also, be sure to go to our church website and click on the word Haiti to hear about the project from Bishop Mary. On that same page you also have the opportunity to make your donation.

God Bless you all.
